This proposed plan, developed by Arup and the 34th Avenue Open Streets Coalition, outlines a bold, long-term plan to transform 34th Avenue into a permanent, 26-block green corridor designed for community use, environmental sustainability, and safer mobility. Building on its role as an Open Street, the redesign features a series of distinct “garden rooms” with playgrounds, outdoor classrooms, gathering spaces, bike lanes, and pedestrian-friendly zones. Emphasizing native landscaping, bioswales, and flexible spaces for performances, exercise, and family activities. Our vision aims to create an inclusive, accessible, and vibrant public space that reflects the needs of the surrounding neighborhood while serving as a model for community-led urban design across the city.
